From the edge of the bed this morning, I saw him roll over in his sleep, reaching his arm out to find me in bed next to him, to wrap me up in his loving arms and hold me close.
When his arm landed and didn’t find me there next to him, he jolted awake in surprise, and a small panic. He lifted his head up as his tired eyes struggled to search for me.
So I leaned over and laid down on the bed next to him, touching his face, kissing his cheek, laying my head on his shoulder. Letting him hug me until he felt certain I was ok.
We snuggled and kissed, and whispered to each other for a few minuets. Our morning ritual done, we rose together, and went to our desks, happy to simply be together.
Safe, and sound, and loved.
